Window Cleaning Prices in La Jolla, Pane by Pane

Window Cleaning Prices in La Jolla, Pane by Pane

By Chris Kunz, updated

Window cleaning in La Jolla costs $275 for exterior glass on up to 20 panes, and $295 for up to 40 panes, which is the tier most homes land in. We price by the pane, not by the window, so you can count your own glass and know roughly where your quote will fall before anyone shows up.

We're Coastal Clarity Window Cleaners, a family-owned exterior cleaning company based in La Jolla. Below is the full La Jolla window cleaning price list, how to count your panes, and why glass this close to the ocean gets dirty the way it does.

How much does window cleaning cost in La Jolla?

Exterior pricing goes up in tiers based on how many panes your home has:

PanesExterior price
Up to 20$275
Up to 40$295
Up to 60$395
Up to 80$495
Up to 100$595
Up to 120$695

Our service minimum is $300, so very small jobs are billed at the minimum. If you only have a few windows, it makes sense to pair them with another service on the same visit.

How do you count panes?

A pane is one piece of glass. A typical window has 2 panes, like a double-hung window with an upper and lower sash. A sliding glass door counts as 1 pane per door.

Here's a quick way to estimate. Walk around the house and count windows, double that number, then add your doors. A home with 15 windows and 2 sliders is about 32 panes, which puts you in the up-to-40 tier.

What does interior cleaning add?

Interior glass adds $80 to $480 on the same tiers. The smaller the pane count, the closer you are to $80. The bigger the house, the closer you are to $480. Most homeowners book inside and out together because we're already set up, and it's the only way to get the whole window clear.

Why do La Jolla windows get so dirty?

It's the marine layer. Fog rolls in off the water most nights and settles on your glass. That moisture picks up the salt already sitting on the window and turns it into a light brine. When the sun burns through by late morning, the brine dries into a bonded salt film.

That film is the reason rain doesn't clean La Jolla windows the way people expect. Rain can't rinse away something that has bonded to the glass. It just moves the film around and leaves spots. The film builds a little every day until the view looks hazy, and by then a quick wipe won't get it off.

It happens from the Village down through Bird Rock and up on the hills. Homes closest to the water see it fastest, but nearly every La Jolla window gets it.

How often should La Jolla homes get their windows cleaned?

Distance to the water sets the schedule. Homes right on the ocean need cleaning roughly monthly in summer, when the marine layer runs heaviest. Anything within a mile of the water does well on a 4 to 6 week cycle. Up the hill in Muirlands and on Mount Soledad, every 2 to 3 months usually keeps glass clear. Cleaning before the film gets thick also makes each visit easier on the glass.

What's included in a standard window cleaning?

We clean the glass, dust the sills and tracks, and rinse the screens. Every window cleaning also comes with a 7-day rain guarantee. If rain spots your glass within a week, we come back and touch it up.

Deep track cleaning and detailed screen cleaning are separate paid services. We'll tell you honestly if your tracks or screens need them. Plenty of homes don't.

Why choose a local family company?

Chris and David Kunz are brothers, and we run this business ourselves. We're based in La Jolla, so we see what the marine layer does to glass every morning. You won't get a quote that changes at the door. You get a price per pane and the same two owners on the other end of the phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to clean 30 windows in La Jolla?

Thirty windows is about 60 panes, since a typical window has 2. Exterior cleaning for up to 60 panes is $395, and adding interior glass runs $80 to $480 on the same tiers.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes, our service minimum is $300. If your job is smaller than that, we can pair it with another service like gutter or screen cleaning on the same visit.

Do you charge extra for sliding glass doors?

No. A sliding glass door counts as 1 pane per door and is priced in your tier like any other glass.

Will rain ruin the cleaning?

Rain alone rarely dirties clean glass. If it spots your windows within 7 days, we come back and touch it up at no charge.

How do I get an exact quote?
